Don’t Sell Yourself Short

Thomas Edison (that inventor guy) said “If we did all of the things that we are capable of doing, we would literally astonish ourselves.”

I think Tom was on to something.

Now let me share an insight by another Tom, Tom Hopkins, Trainer and Sales guru. Tom #2 offered up, “You are your greatest asset. Put your time, effort, and money into grooming and encouraging your greatest asset.”

I’m going to join in with one of my own observations. Many/Most of US have never taken inventory of our skills and talents. Nor have we given ourselves credit for the things we are doing as a Supervisor of people that are more right than wrong. Those are the formative skill areas that we can “build on”.

On the contrary, too often our natures are to “put limits” on our expectations of ourselves to “do more things better”. Too often the course of action is to “presume” that you don’t know how to, that the time to “learn new” ideas will take too much time. Or, the infamous rationalization of “It will take less time if I do it myself.”

And I believe it was Henry Ford who said “If you think you can’t do it, you will be right. If, however, you think you can, YOU will.

Here’s a proposition for you: create a self-fulfilling prophecy of you. Is it a “positive prophecy” or is it “negative prophecy” of You?

Dare to find out. You could astonish yourself.
